Sam Fitzpatrick Died on a Kiewit Project, Their Lawyer Removed the Evidence. [The Missing Rock]

Image
This is Labour Day. September 1 2025.  Sam Fitzpatrick died on a Kiewit project 6035 days  ago. Sam was working at a Peter Kiewit and Sons project at Toba Inlet. British Columbia, Canada. He was 24 years old when he was crushed to death by a falling rock on very steep terrain. Direct quote from a 2012 WorkSafeBC report.  [ which conveniently omits the two excavators working above Sam. ] "The firm's worker was fatally struck by a rock estimated to be over 1.5m [5ft] in diameter. The rock rolled downhill towards the young worker as he was hand drilling a boulder to prepare it for blasting. The firm allowed work to proceed without first clearing loose material uphill that had the potential to dislodge and inflict injury. Unstable material at the worksite had been repeatedly identified in the risk assessments. The firm failed to provide it's workers with adequate instruction and training for the land clearing work. It also failed to ensure effective supervision at the worksit...

And, here we go. A list of music projects that I have created over the last 15 years or so. Most of the videos have descriptions and the musicians are listed. None of this happens without the heavy lifting from my musician friends. The Beetlebottom story series is here https://adventuresinmikeslife.blogspot.com/2025/02/the-beetlebottom-series-1-to-18.html One of the earliest songs I wrote was "Logging Town" It sat dormant for years until I started to meet talented musicians at the now defunct Railway Club...or Railway Stage in Vancouver BC. I wanted something that sounded similar to Steve Earle's, Copperhead Road...and ...spoke about the life of a West Coast logger. Here's an early demo by my West End neighbor , Kirk McSheffrey And...a ramped up version by Steve Sainas. The first Railway Club musician that I partnered with in producing a song, And then..another version that The Vancouver king of rockabilly, Jimmy Roy recorded for me. Next..A song that is meant to fol...

Beetlebottom #18

We Investigated Fully and Found No Evidence of Wrongdoing.  By Mike Pearson Fast forward, or ease forward, your choice really. The main thing is we all need to land together on the following day. Downtown Beetlebottom. In.... and around the Sheriff's office. The schools are closed for a handful of reasons. A person could argue that the safety of the students and staff would be a prime consideration. All things being equal, there's a plethora of dead people. One was murdered for damn sure. The other two garbage dump dead men, not so sure at this point. But, the real reason the primary school and high school are closed is because nobody was going to show up anyways. What with all the excitement and ongoing, unfolding drama…who the hell wants to stay locked inside a big box all day? The wild speculations and gossip, mixed randomly with unhinged theories and preacher serious pronouncements. The flow of words and ideas, plus the friction from curiousity and calamity itself actually ...
